Park Hill, Sheffield

The iconic eyesore is undergoing some gradual but dramatic changes, with developers Urban Splash soon beginning Phase 2 of their renovations. It is an enormous estate, most of which has been abandoned for years and is in physical disarray. Regardless, it has one of the best views in the city, is home to some delightful murals and is increasingly considered as a cultural hub (there was an open-air screening of Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of Romeo & Juliet just two days ago to respect Shakespeare's 400th birthday).
